The Musical Museum

The Musical Museum contains one of the world’s foremost collections of self-playing musical instruments.

Musical Museum Gallery

From the tiniest of clockwork musical boxes to the ‘Mighty Wurlitzer’ the collection embraces an impressive and comprehensive array of sophisticated reproducing pianos, orchestrions, orchestrelles, residence organs and violin players.
Ground floor galleries display instruments once found in large houses of the wealthy and
in more humble dwellings and cafes.
Find out how music was captured, instruments powered and experience the actions and sounds of self-playing instruments.
Browse the shop windows in the street setting and take in the displays of musical toys and street instruments.
Guided tours of the collection take place at weekends.
Weekday tours can be booked for groups by prior arrangement.
Audio tours featuring key instruments in the collection are available.

Facilities

The Riverview Tea Room, offers excellent views and is open to museum visitors and the general public for light refreshments. A gift shop, offering a range of musical themed gifts and CDs, is open during museum hours.
The concert hall and tea room are available for hire.

Travel

Train: from London’s Waterloo Station to Kew Bridge. Turn right when leaving Kew Bridge Station and the museum is about a 10 minute walk.
Underground: District Line to Gunnersbury, then 237 or 267 bus alighting opposite the museum. Alternatively, Piccadilly Line to South Ealing, then the 65 bus passes the  museum
Bus: Buses 65, 237 and 267 pass the museum.
Car: The museum has limited car parking, no charge.

Access

There is full disabled access to all parts of the building and disabled parking and toilets.

Opening Details

The Musical Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday each week & some Bank Holidays from 11.00 – 17.30(last admission 16.30).
Prices
Standard entry is £7.00
Concessions (UB40, student card, pensioners): £5.50
Children under 16: Free
(but all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult).
Parties of 25 or more should be pre-booked.
